Light membrane sweep

I am 2cm dilated and 70% effaced 38 weeks 4 days and my doctor did i light sweep today in hopes it will help induce labor sooner than later. Has anyone had a light sweep done and did it work how long after did you go into labor? If nothing happens by friday may 7th i will be induced but i am hoping the sweep gets labor going sooner this is also my 6th child but never had a sweep before.
