3cm dilated/50% effaced... when is the day??

I had my vaginal check up today and the doctor said baby is extremely low,  I'm 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. She also said that I might see her at the hospital in a day or two.  But my question is,  where are the contractions? I'm not feeling any pain.... no sign of water leaking either. When will I go in labor?? This is my second baby...

Could be today or a while. Every labor is different. Between my first and second they were pretty similar but with this one I’ve been having super painful contractions that aren’t really helping dilate or move me but slightly. Which I experienced bh with my other two but nothing unbearable(light cramps) this time contractions are consistent and have even felt like the start of labor on the pain scale for me. I would go on a long walk. Drink lots of water, have sex. Do all the suggested ways to go into labor. But some women go from a 0 to a 4 in a matter of minutes. Your body just has to remember what it’s doing. Good luck!

Unfortunately you can’t tell just from dilation when you will go into labor. Baby will come when they are ready. Could be a yeah like your doctor said, or it could still be awhile

Dilation and effacement mean nothing for labor. You could sit at 3cm until 42 weeks and not have your water break or go into labor.
