COVID vaccination and pregnancy

Hello,

Is there anyone from the UK who is due to have their second vaccination for COVID whilst pregnant?

I’ve just found out that I’m pregnant and due to have my second vaccine but I’m not sure if I should.

I would really appreciate some reassurance or guidance from others.

I personally, am waiting until after I have the baby. However, if I were to get it during pregnancy, I would absolutely wait until second trimester or later. But it’s a personal decision :)

There are studies coming out suggesting getting the vaccine during pregnancy ( 2nd trimester and on) can confer immunity to the fetus. Check with your doctor as to how to weight the risks and benefits. For me it's a no brainer. I'll be getting the vaccination. If we were to leave vaccination decisions to our kids when they are old enough, we'd be exposing them and others to a host of diseases during their early years. I'm all for science and medically approved vaccines.

Thank you for your reply. I’m only 5 weeks pregnant and it’s so early which is why I was unsure.

Just remember the vaccines are being tested on citizens daily as we speak. Don’t subject your unborn baby to foreign antibodies please. It’s not their choice and if something were to happen to their development, you wouldn’t feel too great

Covid itself is associated with risks in pregnancy and for newborns. Personally I’d rather not subject my baby to those KNOWN risks, vs the tiny risk that there’s an unknown effect of the vaccine.

I'm not sure, but in some places, pregnant women aren't allowed to get the vaccine.I think that you should do what your doctor says, and what your gut tells you.
