First big sick!

Jill • FTM to our one and only Neal.

FTM here and hubby and I have just survived our first truly big sickness with our son!

Poor little guy woke up burning hot Sunday morning at 3am, but temp only read 98.9. He just kept crying though and no bottle, rocking, or cool washcloth would help. After a frantic call to the pediatric on call line, we gave him tylenol and his body cooled off and he fell asleep. Sunday afternoon he was ok for a bit but spiked a fever, higher this time, after lunch. By evening he had lost his appetite and we just kept pushing water. Took him for a Sick visit to the Dr on second day and they said "definitely viral no other symptoms than stuffy nose, fever and no appetite and btw we've seen some cases of Roseola!" OHHHH!

My mother who was visiting...thank god....went straight to my baby book and read what she had written. 5 days of fever and then a rash on my tummy. No appetite was in big letters!

Fever day and night continued for 4 days and we kept praying to see a rash. Finally he woke up from a nap on the 5th day covered in sweat and a rash along his temples. The next day he work up from his nap and his whole torso was covered!

I have never been so relieved to see a rash! The rash was gone within 24hrs and my happy boy was back and we all...I mean me...finally got some sleep. Baby boy was constantly miserable and wanted no one but mama every second of every day during this and that was like holding a small furnace pressed to your whole body!

Roseola is no joke and there is no treatment but time and Tylenol. I don't wish it upon anyone!

This too following my husband and son being in a car accident just days before meant a pretty stressful 2wks, but we survived! The first of many tests along the way I'm sure!
