Swimming / underwater without glasses ?

Question

Whos short sighted can not see well without glasses 
Can you wear contacts underwater or can you only wear for surface swimming like bit being in the water
I am thinking of teaching my self to swim but i can not see phone without glasses on phone has to be a little finger distance away as eye sight deterioratd a lot 
Basiclaly my question is will i be able learn to swim using contacts
Is there a specific brand etc
Gets me really down low about my eye sight :(

They make prescription swim goggles
Or have a lot of glasses just for swimming and use a sports band on them to keep them on.

I bought  swimming goggles that fit over my glasses so I can still see.

You can wear contacts but you’ll need to wear goggles if you want to open your eyes under water.

I wear my contacts swimming. Don't open your eyes underwater. Get some goggles that fit and you can have your eyes open under water

I wouldn’t swim with them. Especially not underwater.

you can swim with them just don’t open your eyes under water. lol i did that once and my contact slipped out
