HPV Vaccine?

My daughter turns 11 this coming November and suppose to get the HPV vaccine, I know a few that didn't let their kid get it. Thoughts? I know several that got the vaccine and still got HPV. Is it worth it?

Cervical cancer rates have dropped by almost 90% BECAUSE of the HPV vaccine. Please, for your daughter's sake, vaccinate her! If you have boys vaccinate them!

It protects against the strains that are known to cause cancer. There are a bunch of strains so it's still possible to catch hpv with the vaccine it just way reduces the chance of the ones that are known to cause issues. I got it as a teen and my kid will get it when he gets old enough.

I got guardasil when it FIRST came out as a teen. Never had problems getting pregnant and although I did have hpv at one point it was not one of the serious cancer causing strains the vaccine covered and it went away on its own without any type of procedure.

It’s literally a vaccine that helps protect against CANCER. Am I the only one who thinks that’s super cool?? Of course I would allow my child to get it. Highly recommend listening to “this podcast will kill you” episode titled “HPV: my wart be with you”

I say it's still worth it. I am one of the ones that got it was still got HPV but it's neither of the top 2 strains that cause cancer. In someways I mad I got the shots and still got it, but I also thinking what if I didn't get my shots and got one of those strains.

I chose not to get it. I have no idea if I will get it for my daughters. Still thinking about it. My mom had cervical cancer, so that wasn’t great. I wouldn’t want them to experience that. However, I have known people who had terrible side effects from it. It kind of traumatized me.

Of course it's worth it! (As all vaccines are). Girls and boys that age should get it! It's part of the vaccine schedule in Canada and kids get theirs in school! It's fantastic.

I like any protection I can get. I was in the first wave of hpv vaccines when it only covered a few strains. I wish I had waited a few years so I could have been covered for more.
