Straw cups

Has anyone started using straw or sippy cups? My daughter uses the Munchkin Weighted Straw Cup, and I’ve been giving her some sips of water throughout the day. She just kind of plays with it though, and will take a sip of water and then open her mouth before swallowing and all the water comes out! Any other suggestions for straw cups that are easy to drink from and easy to clean? Also, should I start giving her formula in a straw cup? My doctor said to stop formula and bottles at one year and go to a straw or sippy cup. That’s only a couple months away, so I feel like we should start practicing now!
