Def get it checked out , I’m a two time cancer survivor of malignant melanoma , first was 11 and was caught pretty early on my neck had to have a neck dissection removing 42 lymph nodes and all it was a little mole flash forward 15 years cancer free and it came back and metastasized and have to surgery in the same spot on my neck another 42 taken out then radiation then immunotherapy and chemotherapy wish I would have went to the doctor sooner. So always better safe than sorry!

Thank you Kim for sharing your story. I will share mine as well to let people know early detection is key! In 2018 I noticed a spot on my right forearm. I can't recall when it had came up. It would it me sometimes and would become a sore. I would doctor it and it would get better then it would become a sore again. My husband kept telling me to go get it checked out so finally I did. It was towards the end of November, I was around 30 weeks pregnant when I went to the dermatologist. I wanted to get it removed and have time for my arm to heal before having my baby. The dermatologist did the biopsy and said he kind of looked like a blood blister possibly to him. He said the results would take about a week to get. I honestly did not even have skin cancer in my mind. I was cooking supper one evening when I received the call. I was devastated to say the least. I went back in for another appointment to discuss the next steps. I would need surgery and would be referred to a general surgeon. I decided to wait to have my surgery till after my baby was born. I didn't want to risk preterm labor. Fast forward to June 2019, I went in to the hospital and first they injected dye to do a lymph node biopsy to make sure it had not spread. I was injected with 4 different needles a total of probably 60 times. That was not fun. Next we had to wait for the dye to light up a lymph node, which could take up to a couple of hours. Luckily it only took about 10 minutes. Then it was off to surgery. I honestly didn't know what to expect. My arm was wrapped up so I didn't actually see it till a few days later. I had 32 stitches total. My surgery went well. My biopsy came back clear!! Thank you God 🙏🏻🙏🏻 . I started going to the dermatologist every 3 months for skin checks and now I go every 6 months. As long as I keep going with no new spots I will go every year after that. Please get checked early detection is so important. I am so thankful my husband kept pushing me to go.
