That is the first time I had ever heard my mom sing

My mom told me that she almost got a record deal as a kid but it fell through. She was incredibly musically inclined and had a set of lungs. She said that she wasn’t able to sing anymore after my bio dad hit her in the head when she was 8 months pregnant with me. she lost her hearing for a few days and her voice from screaming. She said she was never able to sing again after that. Over the years her hearing just got worse and worse

She had surgery on her ears, when my bio dad hit her in the head it literally broke the bones in her ears and they fused together and were causing her to go deaf, so she had surgery and got the bones removed and replaced with titanium and can hear again.

I go to my moms house and I could hear music from outside so I walk in looking for her and damn my mom has a VOICE, and it’s not like a oh yeah she can sing, it’s a OH SHIT she can SING type of voice. Hitting every note spot on.

She was standing in her bathroom belting it out and then choked on cries and I walked in like oh my GOD and she was crying and said “it wasn’t because i couldn’t sing anymore, it was because I couldn’t HEAR myself sing anymore. I can HEAR my voice now!”

She always felt my “dad” took this from her, she didn’t know that it was there the whole time

And that’s something beautiful I felt like sharing

That is the magic of a good surgeon because it was a low chance she would recover all of her hearing and a pretty good chance of going completely deaf, and now she has 100% hearing in both ears

It took her a while to realize she could sing. At first she had to adjust to having ears again, the wind blowing overwhelmed her a lot for a while and now that she’s used to it again she won’t quit singing
