Early private gender scan? Worth it?

Is it worth it to go to a private office for an early gender scan? It’ll cost about $145 for: 2D/3D/4D scan, physical pictures to keep, digital pictures to obtain on my phone, digital video of ultrasound to obtain on phone, dvd, listening to the heartbeat, and a stuffed animal with the recorded sound of the heartbeat. They will do them after 15 weeks, and I was thinking of doing it around 16-17 weeks. Right before Father’s Day. 
**My boyfriend wanted to do a gender reveal, but I’m kind of against that trend, especially with our families and friends being in different states and we’ll be having a baby shower later this summer. I was thinking of doing this appointment on my own and creating a gender reveal surprise for him, for Father’s Day!

Honestly, I never felt it was worth paying for one when I get an ultrasound at 20 weeks covered by insurance. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That's just me though. I don't spend money if not necessary.

We did a private scan with my daughter at 14 weeks to find out gender early. I absolutely loved it. And only paid $75. This time around we splurged and got the package. We got and early gender scan at 14 weeks; we will get 3D/4D at 25 weeks and 2 stuff animals with the babies heartbeats (we are having twins) and I paid $225 for it all had to pay a little extra for the extra stuff animal and there was an addition charge for twins cause the sessions run longer. For us it’s worth it we love having the extra pictures and keepsakes of our babies. Wish I had done if for my older boys but when I was pregnant with them it was still a new thing and very expensive

I did the private scan but for a different reason. It was our first baby and We knew we were having a boy and already had a gender reveal feb 2020. I was due in June 2020. But I wanted to do something super special for that Mother’s Day since it was my first unofficial Mother’s Day. So I booked the appointment early and saw our son ON Mother’s Day. To make it even special, I had my mother and mother in law come to experience it because none of mine or my husbands siblings ever included our moms in anything pregnancy related. So it was super special!

3D/4D ultrasounds are recommend to do after 24 weeks.

We have had private scans with our first two and will with our third, all by the same ultrasound tech. This time is extra special because our first two kids get to join us when we find out baby 3’s gender next week! We had them done around 18 weeks and then again at 32 weeks to see their growth and it has been awesome experiences. For us, it was worth the money. About $250 each for both scans. We love the memories we made with each other and each child.

I had a miscarriage at 12 week scan but I would of defo paid private at 16 weeks just for peace of mind if I had to buy blue or pink

I’d wait since if done too early you can get the wrong gender!
