Ask yourself... why did you want a second child?

recently one of my friends was asked when she would be having a 2nd baby, she currently has a 9 month old girl and is in her early 30s. Her response was, when we were pregnant with our daughter we were so ready, it felt right, right now we don't feel that way and are in no rush but when it feels right again then we will have another. Lately i've been on this balance beam of wanting to get pregnant and have a second baby and give my 19 month old a sibling. However, i feel somewhat the same way my friend does, of course i want a second or even more children but is it the right time? is my daughter still a baby herself? should we wait? Then i ask myself what is the reason i want a second baby... to give my daughter a sibling? have my children close in age? do i want those newborn snuggles again or does society pressure you into having another one with so many pregnant people and announcements around you?  Just my friday thoughts... curious what others reasonings were for having a second child. Fill free to discuss!

Inexplicable baby fever, I just knew I was ready. I do agree with the other points you made though, I also want to give my son a sibling and I want them close in age. My sisters are my best friends and I want that relationship for my son too. My son will be 25 months when baby arrives, so I definitely am feeling a bit worried about losing time with him, but I think this is a very common fear! 
I personally don’t love the newborn stage, so this definitely isn’t about newborn snuggles for me lol

My husband and I definitely wanted another, we both didn’t want an only child. I have pcos and needed help to get pregnant with my first so I needed to plan out a bit for the second. To say exactly when I was ready had more to do with timing and medication. 
Of course, surprises definitely happen. I got pregnant naturally about a month before I was going to start the whole process again. Our kids will be exactly 23 months apart. That age difference will work well for us so we are just taking everything as it comes.

My number one reason: to give my 18 month old a sibling. I have two stepdaughters 10 and 13 who are with us 50% of the time. They are obsessed with her and she them. But when they leave she sometimes cries and constantly says their names on the weeks they’re gone. I wouldn’t wish this baby pain on anyone.
Second reason: I would like a bigger family. I like the chaos, it feels like how family is supposed to be. 
Third reason: I’m curious to see how nature and nurture play out in another child as siblings are often so different but raised under the same roof. My husband and I are very committed parents and it is a fun challenge for us to raise amazing little people no matter the struggles.

We had ours super close in age. My siblings and I each have about 9 years between us and there were times I felt lonely and wished I had a sibling close to my age. So for us it was an easy decision. I always knew I wanted more than two kids and I wanted them to be close in age

I don’t think I was ever going to feel ready for another one. I wasn’t even ready for my first one LOL. But now that I am pregnant again, I really do enjoy thinking of how close in age they will be. (They are going to be almost EXACTLY 2 years apart) it’s incredible. I don’t want any more after this because again, I probably won’t ever feel ready for another.

We always knew we would have more than one child. It took 3 pregnancies for my daughter to arrive. She turned 11 months and we decided to try again but didn't expect to get pregnant so quickly since it took awhile the for her. My daughter is now 15 mon and I am 17 wks pregnant..I'm also 32 husband is 35 and there is still a possibility for another child.

My second was an accident lol so we chose to keep him because we felt financially and emotionally stable enough. We wanted a second eventually, just not at that particular time in our lives. Like your friend, we were waiting for it to feel right. That’s what we’re doing with #3 (and with better birth control lol). We both had a lot of siblings growing up and I can’t imagine growing up without them so giving our first a sibling was about giving them that experience. And I love being pregnant and having a baby so I wanted to do that again too.
