Daycare Mamas - Need your input
Hello! My son started daycare this past week and already has a runny nose (as do all of the kids in his class). Technically having a running nose is one of the symptoms on the “do not bring me to daycare” list that we were given at the start. I am such a rule follower, especially during covid. Last weekend (prior to starting daycare) he had a fever and we did all of the recommended steps (urgent care, covid test which was negative, kept him home Monday to allow for 24+ hours since past fever) so I am all for following the rules. My question: do you think a runny nose alone without any other symptoms is reason enough to stay home? They obviously aren’t informing this rule since I have seen at least 6 of the 11 kids in his class have runny snotty noses this week while I’ve been doing drop off and pick up. My sons runny nose is likely from them. Which is fine but do you think I should keep him home for a runny nose alone? I’m struggling with my internal rule follower self vs the reality that he will likely have a runny nose like 80% of the time he is in daycare. Obviously if he started a fever, had diarrhea, developed a cough or started sneezing etc I would 100% keep him home. I welcome your thoughts.
