Do I need to stop breastfeeding?

My first LO is 1 year old and we are talking about when to start trying for a second. I'm currently still breastfeeding, and I'm not quite ready to wean yet. I haven't gotten my period back yet, so I'm worried I'll need to wean before TTC again. Anyone have success getting pregnant while breastfeeding? Any thoughts?

I think everyone is different. I’ve have had 2 postpartum periods so far (3 ovulation cycles because we caught the first egg) ive had 2 chemical pregnancies and most recently a missed miscarriage requiring D&C. I stopped breastfeeding my son when he was 14 months just 2 days before I ovulated this past cycle. I felt sad weaning but wanted to give him a sibling and my body didn’t want to do it while breastfeeding 😭 currently 3 days past D&C and waiting for my period so we can start trying again. Do what you feel is best for you. Baby dust!!

My period came back closer to 2 years PP, I also had the mirena IUD. We wanted a bigger age gap so I didn’t have it removed until we were ready to try. I did have a periods with the IUD. 
I had my iud removed July 2020, was pregnant by October 2020 and I stopped breast feeling my toddler January 2021. He wasn’t nursing a ton, but still twice a day when we conceived.
For me it didn’t seem to cause a problem. Best of luck when you start TTC 🍀
