What are boarding schools like?

What are boarding schools like in Germany compared to America or anywhere else in the world? Please could you give detailed answers. Thank you 😊!
Do you have to share bedrooms and bathrooms? 
Are they just for wealthy  
rich kids, famous celebrities children and royal kids? 
What type of extra curricular clubs are there? 
Is it easy to make friends? 
Do I need to learn a language if I am in a German boarding school?
Any suggestions or the names of good boarding schools would be appreciated.

I’m going to guess a German boarding school is going to be very structured, disciplined, probably uniforms, it may be more modern and it may be regular clothes, they have a boarding school across from my office, in America, the kids wear regular clothing, they live on campus and they are all very wealthy, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen who were on the TV show full house they went there, a lot of celebrities kids go there, I believe the sultan of Brunei‘s children are there, and the difference is it’s high school and it is 40,000 a year which is what most people pay for a private college not for a private high school. Regular high school trips would be to the aquarium, the Statue of Liberty. Their trips are to Paris, they speak multiple languages, they have a different standard and most of the children who finish they are go to Ivy League schools. For college. It is a very high standard of education, very disciplined, they play sports, they have their own golf area, you name it. The professors and staff also live on campus, they have their own daycare, my mother was raised by a German navy captain I think was what he did, who was very prompt with time, very disciplined, very structured, I can only assume it must be the same thing over there. Mind you this was a long time ago my mother is in her 70s. But I have no clue what it would be like aside from TV shows, but I can only tell you what it is like here in America. But with the school here across the street they say if you have the grades, they have endowments to help you pay for the education. I’m sure it’s a very competitive high level of education, I’m sure they must have activities for you to do sports and things like that and clubs, I’m going to assume so, and a couple of the students across the street they speak five languages, and told me about how it is over there. I would ask somebody at the school, talk to the staff, talk to the children, pay them a visit, and figure out what it’s like living there and the structure of it. And it also depends what kind of school it is if it’s a military Academy, if it’s what exactly it in tails, but I would definitely try and go pay them a visit so you can see for yourself, most likely it is shared bathrooms, Similar to a dorm in college I’m gonna assume, I don’t know the school in particular, I will check the schools website they must have photos were a virtual tour or something like that that’s probably your best bet￼￼
