Cot to bed transition, have you made it?

Question

I have an 18 month old & baby #2 arriving in sept. 
Do I make the transition from cot to bed before baby arrives? 
Baby will be in bassinet so I have no rush for the cot but I am wondering would it be some what easier to do it before I have another baby that needs my attention. 
Thoughts/experiences? Thanks

I dont like to transition until they can understand that they need to stay in the bed.

We transitioned a month ago and it was a lot easier than I thought. The first night or two we stayed in the room for about 30min to get her comfortable.
Every time she got out to try to play with toys, we just picked her up (didn’t say anything) and put her back in the bed. After two nights she doesn’t get out at all!

Shockingly mine has not attempted to escape his crib yet, despite the fact that he climbs everything else in the house. He is a wrecking ball right now so I plan on keeping him contained for as long as possible, otherwise his room will look like a prison cell.

We changed my son into his “big boy room” and a floor bed at about 19 months. We wanted to do it before our daughter was born at 21.5 months so it wouldn’t be like she was “stealing his room/bed.” It went very smoothly for us.

I’ve read a few times not to make any big changes in baby no1s life within three months before and after birth of new baby. 
I also have an 18 month and due no2 in august. 
She’s not showing any signs of needing to transition and I’ll gladly have her in her cot for as long as poss. So I won’t be tackling it til well after baby is here.

My daughter has been in her crib since she was born for naps and would cosleep, she went fully in her crib when she started rolling. We just made her crib into a toddler bed. Works for us, she gets up without crying the first nights we’re difficult because she wouldn’t want to go to bed she would keep getting off, now we let her go into her bed and she sleeps all night. We did buy a bumper off Amazon so she doesn’t fall off her bed.

My second is due in early august. We are planning on transitioning when baby is ready for crib (probably 4 months or so). My daughter will be about 2. I think she may be ready now but I’m too overwhelmed to try and don’t want to do it too close to baby.

We transitioned a few months ago, he has done great. We went from co sleeping to his big boy bed, most nights he does come into our room though after 2am.

Following! My second will be here in December. I’ve read that you shouldn’t make big changes 2-3 months before or after the new baby arrives. I haven’t decided what I’ll do yet because he just seems too little to me to not be contained lol

We transitioned months before just so there weren’t 2 changes happening at once. It went great with our oldest daughter. We put a mattress on the floor and extra pillows on the floor. She fell out of bed maybe 3x total before she learned. She didn’t learn she could leave the room until she was 2.5 lol. It was pretty great. Our current 18 mo old will probably be the one who tries to leave immediately and screams. It all depends on them and their personally.
