Low beta after IUI - potential tw

I’m 14dpiui and had my first beta hcg test this morning with my RE. My beta blood pregnancy test is 44.9 so I’m pregnant but they said it’s lower then they’d like it at and said they typically want it at least 100.

She said it’s too hard to tell right now, I could be fine and it just fertilized later or I could have a chemical pregnancy. I have to go back Sunday to see what it is and hopefully it’ll double or more. My progesterone is 46.8 which she said is great they want over 15 (I’m on suppositories).

Anyone have lower first betas success stories?

Side note/vent—I don’t even know why it has to be 100. I understand that the trigger shot and IUI occurred at specific timeframes but everything I have read even before all this talks about implantation times vary and sometimes slow risers, in addition to possible later fertilization. Why have such a high expectation for a first hcg at exactly 4 weeks?

I’ve been going through unexplained secondary infertility and have had two chemicals. I’ve been cautiously optimistic all week when my FRERs have gotten darker. Instead of feeling so happy I’m pregnant like I was feeling a couple days ago when it was a positive digital, she completely crushed all of my excitement. I’ve been a ball of anxiety and crying all day. I have anxiety as it is and pregnancy after loss is hard. Hearing that “maybe it’s fine but it could be another chemical” was not encouraging 😔
