No? I think calling indicates preferring to talk real time at that moment. 
It doesn't have to mean anything deeper than that, it could be the mood the person is in or just a preference. 
Some ppl don't like to text as much. 
I'll call if I feel unable to have a conversation through text. It's probably my mood & it depends on who. It's true I won't call just anyone.
