Like if they treat you terribly do you think they still deserve respect?

No one actually deserves respect. We earn respect. I respect the people in my family who show they can do the same for me. Just because they are blood or older doesn’t make them deserving of anything from you

I hate that idea so much that if you’re an adult or a parent you’re automatically above your kid/a kid. You’re not entitled to respect because respect isn’t a right, it is a privilege. If an adult is rude/ disrespectful then the person they’re doing it to has every right to not be respectful. You’re not owed anything because you’re an adult or parent. Not respect, love, money, whatever it may be (yes even by your own children). Respect should be given and received, it’s not one sided.

So my mil treats me like shit!  She doesnt always she usually trys to be very sweet but she has treated me like no other human has ever treated me in my entire life !  If i put all the bad things every person in the world have ever done to me it still wouldnt compare to her! But at the end kf the day its my husbands mom. So i hold my tongue but when she starts with me or says something now i tell her straight cut it out or i will! I give her no room to mess around anymore but day to day i try to stay pretty chill
