Intramedullary Femural Rods

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else here has had an intramedullary rod or metal bar inserted insides there bones from a surgery / injury. I’m just curious what’s yall experience with one? Did you have any long term effects? Ive had mine inside my femur for about 9 years (still confused on why my doctor never removed it) I had my put in place for a limb lengthening surgery and they had to break my femur. But I’m now starting to have extreme pain in the fume and I’m wondering if it’s from the metal rod. Just want to know if anyone else had experience weird symptoms from it
