Do you believe the right man/woman will help you love yourself?

I was in a very toxic draining relationship which caused me to become very insecure. Extremely to the point where I was debating extensive plastic surgery and putting down deposits for them. However, I know it's not your partners responsibility to make you love yourself. I would just like to see peoples opinions.

Someone who cares about you will support you, empower you, and surround you with the right energy to where it will be easier to make improvements to yourself with the accountability. Some people find having someone to be better for is motivating. But ultimately, it’s down to the individual and them taking the initiative to make positive changes.

I was severely bullied my whole life. 
I had a very low self worth and self esteem. 
Until I met my husband. He loves me for me. He prefers me without make up, has seen me birth 3 children, loved my post partum body and everything. He truly has helped heal my past bullying traumas and made me believe I really am beautiful no matter what. So yes, I do believe there can be people to help you with self esteem.

I personally think loving ourselves is a journey that we need to work on with ourselves. If we feel better about ourselves because our partner is a positive person that's nice BUT would we feel the same if they up and left? Or would we go back to being insecure and whatever else? So im leaning towards no.

Accidentally clicked no, yes it’s possible. Positive words and affection from your partner can help you start to regain confidence. Although becoming dependent on your partners reassurance can destroy your relationship.

I mean they can, but if you want it to be lasting, you need to love yourself. Because if you don’t no amount of positivity and love from them will actually heal your hurt. I’ve been married to the most amazing man for 6 years but only in about the past 7 or 8 months have I realized how much my lack of self love was affecting our relationship. I had a lot of wounds from past relationships (both boyfriends and family relationships) and I’ve always been incredibly hard on myself. It wasn’t until I was at a reiki session that I realized my biggest problem... it came in the form of a question to my head while I was being worked on “if you never got pregnant would you love you?” (We’ve been trying for 4 years) and it was a resounding NO. But then as I thought about it days later I had the same question pop up again but about my husband and if I believed he would love me if I never got pregnant and that too was a no. I realized that if I couldn’t love myself, I would continue to block his love on some level and not truly believe he could love me the way he always has because I didn’t. The most genuine and lasting way to feel love and give love is by truly loving yourself first. Then you can love genuinely and not desperately AND you won’t accept less from anyone else... because that wouldn’t be very loving to yourself.

Yes your “other half” the “right” person how ever you want to put it should always make you feel good about yourself if not then they for sure aren’t the one!! But when it comes down to it you have to find that love and acceptance within yourself first you have to be happy with who you are and how you are just the way are that way NO ONE can bring you down or make you second guess yourself.

When I left my ex I met my current boyfriend very soon after. I hated myself after being with my ex, he made me feel like I was so ugly and undesirable. Being with my boyfriend, he made me feel so loved and beautiful and today I always feel like the hottest girl in the room because he truly makes me feel like I am. He’s built me up so high and helped me to be so incredibly confident. So yes, the right person will help you to feel that way.
