What exactly is modified bed rest?

I was so flustered when my midwife said I needed to be on it that I didn’t get enough clarification. Can someone help explain it a little for me?

I was just put on modified bed rest. I can get up to make myself meals, to shower, and to use the restroom, and i am able to transfer from bed to couch. I need to be 80% laying in my left and 20% sitting however else I’m comfy!

You should probably contact her to get specifics but bed rest means you should stay in bed or be resting/lying down except to go to the rest room or when you need to shower. You are not to do any heavy lifting, housework or anything that can overexert your body.

My modified bed rest is no housework, no lifting, no climbing stairs, resting 2 hours before and after meals. Can get up to shower and get things that I need.
