Recital thermometer for 10 month old ?

Should I use a rectal thermometer for my 10 month old son? I know it’s most accurate but I read that you’re supposed to leave it in for couple minutes and there’s no way in hell my son is going to lay still for that long with something up his butt lol. What are some thermometers out there that is pretty accurate? Thanks in advance !

Definitely not, use an ear thermometer, never once have I used a rectal thermometer on my daughter. There's really no need unless they are a newborn when fevers can be quite dangerous.

We have this Vicks rectal thermometer and it takes very fast readings! It’s accurate too. We also have the Exergen temporal thermometer that I like to use before the rectal one because it’s not as invasive, then if it reads a bit high I use the rectal one to be sure. I have used the Exergen thermometer on my baby even when she was less than a week old and it gave the exact same reading as the rectal one so it’s super accurate! I also have a Braun ear thermometer, but I prefer the temporal one.
