Pregnant with Bipolar Depression
I am 28 and currently 3 months pregnant. I have suffered from anxiety and bipolar depression since I was a child. I have never taken medication or seen a psychiatrist. When I was a teenager I was taken to the hospital several times for panic attacks. I was referred to a neurologist and prescribed Citalopram but I never took my medication because my father wouldn’t allow it. He said I didn’t need it. This is my fourth pregnancy and all of them seem to put me in a deep depression. This happens when I’m not pregnant but not as bad. I’ll stay in bed crying for days without eating or any social contact. I hate everyone around me including my husband. I suffer from severe mood swings and highs and lows. I’m so exhausted, I just want to be happy. I think I’m ready to finally try and get help so I can be a better Mom and better myself I just don’t know how. I have United Health Care through Medicaid. Should I go through my OBGYN first? Thanks.
