Boosting milk supply
I had my 4th baby last week, and up until her birth I have been unable to breastfeed any of my other babies due to lack of supply. I did tons of research and chatted with my physician throughout my pregnancy and wanted to share with all of you what has worked for me, in case some of you are in the same position. These can most definitely cause oversupply, which can be super painful, so I 100% would not recommend trying them if your supply falls within normal limits.
With my prior births, I was only ever able to produce 0.25 oz per breast, with this one, I am currently producing 1.5 to 2 oz per breast (at 7 days post birth)
What I've done differently this time:
- I drink 1 coconut Body Armor and take 2 Cash Cow supplements around 8am and again around 8pm.
- I told myself going into this one that I am 100% not a failure if things didn't work out this time. By taking the pressure off myself, I am way more relaxed and I think that alone has played a huge role in boosting supply.
- In the first days after my daughter was born, I pumped on the breast that she was not nursing from & woke her every 2 hours for feeds. She is currently eating every 3 hours, but I do a 5 minute pump at the 1.5 hour mark
