Tips on weaning?

Hello! So I have a 2yr old who still nurses 4x a day. Just when she wakes up and goes down for nap time and at night. My goal was a year and she just is still really wanting it so I figured that it can only be beneficial for her. Anyway, I want to wean her before the new baby comes because she will be almost 3 at that point and I don’t want to tandem feed. Any tips??

Gradually take away a feeding. Maybe start with the nap time feeding and progress from there. When I weaned my daughter is try to preoccupy her with something else and take her focus off the nursing

my 2 year old is still nursing as well. my nipples are sooo sore that when he latches i cringe. i’m hoping to wean him soon but he’s so attached and asks for milk every morning and before bed. i did hear the milk dries up sometimes around 4 to 5 months and they self wean.

I started weaning the afternoon naps first and then worked on weaning the morning feeding and finally the nighttime feeding. It really hurt to nurse my first when I was pregnant with my second, so I would tell her how mommy has “ouchies” on my nipples if she got upset that we couldn’t do a feeding. We’d talk about saying goodbye to the milk and celebrating what a big girl she was. It took me 3 months to wean her, so it was a slow process for me. I wish you luck with this new transition!
