Mirena IUD - Replace or Change?
I got my IUD in October 2019. Around March 2021, I had an ultrasound done that revealed my IUD was in the lower endometrium within the lower uterine segment. Dr said I can replace it if I experience pain or irregular bleeding.
I have noticed slight pinches every now and then, which are a 2 or 4 on a scale of 1-10. My bleeding has appeared to become irregular, as I have 2 short periods within proximity to each other. The strings feel a little longer, but I can’t feel the IUD itself sticking out of my cervix.
I have had no other noticeable side effects from the Mirena, besides the prolonged bleeding after initial insertion. I am on the fence about having it either replaced or taken out and switching to Nexplanon. What are your thoughts?
