Painful sex...is it my IUD?

So I was a Virgin when I got married but I got my Iud in a couple months before I got married..anywho I've had it in for like 5 months so far and the sex is still painful. I don't know if it is from the IUD but I know that can be a side effect...I'm worried something else is wrong with me if it isn't that... Anyone else experience this?!

Probably not the IUD. You might not be aroused enough when you do it, or you might just need more lube. But you should check with your doctor to make sure nothing's wrong.

With mine, there was some cervical pain every once in a while for a few months. But that was only when he would hit my cervix. It was a very sharp pain that went away within a few seconds as long as he didn't hit it again. My gyno said that its normal and can be a side effect.

Hey Rachel, I'd bet that sex is painful because you're not turned on enough when sex happens. Have you talked to your partner about this? You should also get tested for STIs, as some cause painful sex- and use lots of lube! No such thing as too much!

Talk to your partner & doctor about this, but I HIGHLY doubt it's your IUD.

I would go see your gyno about that. Sex shouldn't be painful with the exception on the mild discomfort the first few times.

Depending on his size the IUD does add extra pain during sex.
