Should I become a SAHM? I’m so conflicted!

Question

I’m due with my first in August and I’m trying to figure out if I want to be a SAHM or not. I love my job. It’s the first job I’ve had that I actually enjoy and am able to work from home. Buuut I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be a SAHM. I know being a SAHM is more than a full time job so I can’t do both. If I leave my job, money would be tight (maybe $400-500 extra per month after bills) and I’m worried about how hard it will be to get back into the work force in 10ish years. My husband is supportive of whatever I decide to do. 
 
I know this is a personal decision but anyone here a SAHM and love it or do you wish you would’ve kept your job? Any advice?

i think it sucks either way lol, when i worked i missed my son all day every day, i missed a few soccer games and school stuff that i can’t ever get back. i loved my job though so when it was time to retired and become a full time mom it was really hard. now that i am, i love it and we’ve started homeschooling so i get to spend a good chunk of my time with him. but sometimes i miss the satisfaction of my job. in the workplace you get constant praise/affirmation that you’re doing a good job, but as a SAHM you have no idea if you’re doing the right thing until something happens, like they potty by themself or they’re kind to a stranger..

I always wanted to be a stay at home mom! Since i was a kid i loved the idea of staying home keeping the house perfect and raising my kids. But then i had a kid and i loved going to work lol. That sounds bad but i feel like i lost myself after becoming a mom and not in a bad way i was happy to be a mom and happy to be with my daughter but i felt like a totally different person like all i was was a mom!  I worked as a household maid which i love cux i love cleaning and when my daughter was 2 months old an old client texted to see how i was doing n i asked how she was n if she found a maid she liked n she said she found a good one until she found she found her cheque book and took her for thousands!   So she said if i wanted she could use the help. So first day i took my diaghter thinking i can just wesr her all day its only a half day….it was brutal lol so next time my father in law offered to keep her i was super hesitant but i did and it was amazing! They started bonding very deeply i got some independence and alone time and money of my own and i was only gone half the day!  I felt so mych better when i got home, as if i had a ton more energy and such a better fuse with mt daughter. It was great!  I think is hard to know until u have a child and have that feeling of like where did i go but for me working part time was the best decision. I ended up doing five half days a week until the pandemic hit

I chose to be a stay at home mommy for the first year or two of their life. I feel that is the most crucial time to be home with them. I’ve been a stay at home mom since I had my daughter March of 2020. I plan to go back to work sometime around the fall/winter. Money has been a tad bit tight at certain times, but I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. I never missed a milestone or a second. I will always cherish this time that I’m so blessed enough to be able to spend with her! This is most definitely a privilege not every family can afford 
You can be a stay at home mommy & go back to work whenever! Work will always be there, but that little baby wont♥️

I wanted to be a SAHM mom but just needed that adult interaction out of the house. So I decided to work for my BIL couple days a week part time. Unfortunately my oldest got really sick and I had to stay home. After that we decided for me to just stay at home. Now currently pregnant with number 3. 
There are days I go absolutely stir crazy from just being at home with them. Luckily my dad will come hang out with them for a bit to give me me time. It’s not for everyone. I love my kiddos and so blessed I never had to miss out on their milestones. The adventures we go on are the best. I will probably go back to work in a few years when they are in school but until then, we will continue to ‘roll out’ and defend the house from monsters.

I've been a SAHM for 2.5 years now and I absolutely love it! I tried going back to work after my daughter was born, but all the time away from her just wasn't worth the work stress and wasted time commuting so I quit when she was six months old. We made a lot of financial sacrifices for me to stay home (cut our expenditures almost in half) but it was so so worth it and we are a much happier family. I love setting my own schedule, having the weekends free for fun instead of chores/errands, and being 100% in charge of my daughter's upbringing. I've had the freedom to start my own handmade business online and run that part time. I think the biggest thing is having something you pursue just for yourself outside of your household/wife/child-bearing responsibilities. It takes balance just like having a regular job.

My husband is military so for the first year of my daughters life I’ve stayed home. I’m now expecting again and I will stay home for the first year of this babies life as well. I will go back to work once this baby is a year. Childcare gets cheaper and easier to access and I am able to really enjoy that first big ever changing year of my kids lives. But SAHM isn’t for everyone. It is hard and never ending. But so worth it!

I’m the odd one out I’m sure, but my husband joined the military and I was able to become a SAHM for the last 4-5 years. I was not cut out for it. I struggled so bad with tithe fact that I had no job, didn’t contribute besides raise the kids and clean the house. I quickly lost myself over the years. I’m just now getting back into working and having an actual life outside of my kids. I love my kids, I’m thankful I got to raise them from birth until school but I wouldn’t do it again. I’m meant to be a working mom and that’s okay. If you feel you’d be happy, take the opportunity. Your baby will be okay no matter what you choose.
