Empress Menen's humility
I loved reading in Empress Menen's biography by the sista Parnell, and the incredibly real perspective that it gives on the Emperor + Empress experience during the invasion.
How amazing to see the whole story from her eyes and think about and relate to her heart as a womban. Empress Menen prayed for Ethiopia's liberation to Miryam mother of Iyesu, while in exile in Israel. During the war while her family was away from home, multiple of her children died from various reasons. When the war was finished and the Royal family had come home, Empress Menen despite her mourning of her losses, was so grateful to Igziabher for Ethiopia's Liberation, that she traveled to Israel again and she gave her crown to the church where she had prayed. She never again wore a crown during this lifetime, she only would wear a hat or a tiara.
As a womban I look at this story and I feel she is truly the heights of womban and goddess. Her loyalty and femininity and unconditional motherhood of her entire country, her praying to Miryam coming to her like womban to womban and pray and beg for her children, the Ethiopian people. Her sacrifice in the metaphorical sense of her own biological children even as she prays for liberation of millions of her children. Her ultimate modesty and humility and her lack of vanity. Mother of Ethiopia, Queen Omega is an inspiration for us all. May all womban live up in such integrity and godliness.
