Sleeping and eating at four months old
Can anyone tell me how long their four month old sleeps for at night and how long their naps are during the day? Also how often are you feeding them and for how long?
For some background, my baby has a reflux issue and I am concerned that he’s essentially been trained to eat for short bursts every hour. I do what the doctor said and I’m giving him gas drops 4 times a day 30 minutes before he eats but it only seems to work sometimes. Some days he eats every two/three hours for 15-30 minutes but most days he eats every 1.5-2 hours for 3-10 minutes. He is gaining weight still but the doctor wants him to gain more (he’s in the 25th percentile) it’s exhausting because I am pretty much always feeding him and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of schedule.
For the day time naps, he takes about 4 naps a day and will sleep anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour. I’m a little concerned that when he only takes 30 minute naps that he isn’t getting enough rest.
Finally the sleeping at night thing. I know everyone will tell me I shouldn’t but right now we are co sleeping. We started because it was exhausting getting up once an hour and putting him in and out of his bassinet. Now he will sleep anywhere from 1 hour to 6 hours straight and usually from 2-3 hours is the norm. I’m concerned that maybe my husband’s snoring is waking up the baby more frequently.
This is my first child so I really do not know what “normal” is. Everything I read says that he should be eating for 15-20 minutes each breast every 2-3 hours and that he should regularly be sleeping for 6 hour stretches at night and taking hour naps during the day but this very rarely happens with my lil dude
