So I have to take antibiotics for five days, and I can’t breastfeed my son for those days plus 24 hours after the fifth day, because it can be present in the milk. We were occasionally supplementing anyway, like when I didn’t pump milk for my husband to do an overnight feeding.

The urgent care nurse told me to just pump and dump each time he drinks formula, but will that diminish my supply— just to clarify, I mean should I just pump as he eats or pump in addition to that? Has this happened to anyone before? What did you do to keep the supply up? Sorry, I was doing so well breastfeeding and then this situation happened and I’m kind of stuck on what to do. Thank you. ♥️

More info for context: He’s 3 weeks old, but was born at 37 weeks which is considered ‘early term.’ Also, each time I have pumped I usually get 3oz between the two, sometimes I’ll get close to five when I pump in the morning.
