Apprehensive about getting covid vaccine ?
(I live in Canada, if that matters)
I don’t know why but I feel so apprehensive about getting the covid vaccine. Every member of my family and most of my friends have gotten at least 1 dose & they’re doing just fine.
I have a BSc in biology so I obviously trust the science behind it. I get my flu shot almost every year without question so I don’t understand where this apprehension is coming from.
For some reason there’s a part of me that is nervous about booking an appointment to get it.
I know that by getting vaccinated that restrictions will be lifted but the government officials keep saying at the end of their statements that “even if you’re vaccinated you can still contract & spread covid so we’ll never be truly back to normal”. It feels like they’re saying that you will have more freedom/leniency if you get vaccinated but at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter and we’re still gonna keep restrictions up.
It feels like we, as citizens, just can’t win no matter what we choose to do. I don’t deny that covid is a real virus and people do get really sick from it, but I feel like the government just doesn’t give a shit anymore about the lives and well-being of Canadians. Majority of our population is already vaccinated so why can’t we resume life as we used to know it and if you’re still scared of going outside, just stay home and take it upon yourself to be cautious. I wanna go back to my home province/hometown and see my family, my dog, my boyfriend, and my friends. I currently live alone, 3 provinces away for school that is online because of covid - this province got a couple hundred cases shortly after I moved here and just completely shut down. I now have to ask the government for permission to travel home and back in time for September term. What happened to this “free country”?? I’m so lonely and bored and my mental health is starting to deteriorate. The frustration is real.
