Starting purées- homemade?

Question

My son is 5 months and we were told to start with purées. Any ideas or advice? We also have to be careful because we do know he has milk allergies and we think there may be more so at 6 months we will have to start testing those. For now we have to make sure not to include possible allergens. 
Did you buy them? Make them? Any machines/ tools that worked well? I am definitely not a chef so I would love to make home made. having something like the baby breeza tool may be smart but I don’t know much about it or if it’s worth it.

Keep it simple. I started with booked or roasted sweet potato, pumpkin and/or fruit. If baby didn't like the plain vegies you can add cooked apple for flavour. I didn't use any fancy tools or cooking methods.

Start with dark greens, oranges, yellows, then fruit last (basically nasty to yummy). If you start with fruits they won’t eat veggies. Be watchful for any allergens and switch out the purée food type only after 3 days to make sure of no allergic reaction. Do not do multiple purée foods in one sitting as it is if baby is allergic, you wouldn’t know to what. As you introduce more and more diff foods, you can see what they are/aren’t allergic too. Absolutely no nuts or honey.

I made all our baby food. We bought a beabacook duo and was more than worth it. We were using just our normal food processor but saw thia and tried it. Was so much easier and quicker. Also easier to clean by a lot. My child is 2.5 and we still use it because it is so easy to throw in some grains or rice and make a healthy lunch or make her applesauce or smoothies when she wants it. Have used it at least once a day since we bought it and yes has been easier than doing it otherways.

I get the gerber natural purées. We’ve done sweet potato, green beans and carrots so far.

I buy Beechnut jars. They’re like 60 cents at Walmart. I am not stressing over making baby food when the same toxic metals are found whether you buy them or make them. And there aren’t any weird ingredients in them. Just the fruits/veggies.

I bought puree, because we used it to introduce, as a sauce for some things and when out of house, but as I mostly do baby led weaning, then I almost always give my son what we eat, so I don't need to make him any special food. I just take out his portion before seasoning everything.

I bought them for awhile, but honestly it was always easier for me to make them. Things like banana or avocado (I don’t know what you have to be careful with) make good starters because they can easily be mashed without having to cook them or anything. 
Other foods, as you introduce more, you might have to cook to soften (carrots, apples, etc.) and can be puréed with just a normal food processor or blender. I did find that my immersion blender was  super helpful for this and I use it for normal cooking as well, so it wasn’t an extra piece of equipment that was just for baby foods.
