How often should baby be pooping?

I’m worried. My 1 month old has only pooped twice today. He is exclusively breastfed. Has been gaining weight and normal amount of pee diapers today too. Is this normal?

I actually googled this last night as our breastfed 4wk old didnt poop at all yesterday. There's a wide range of healthy bowel movements for breastfed newborns, from 6 times a day to once in two days 🤷‍♀️

Breastfed babies don't poop everyday. I just talked to our pediatrician about this yesterday ya my son's one month appointment.
They don't poop everyday because they may be taking all the nutrients from your milk so there's nothing left to digest. So it's normal to not poop everyday.

I came here to ask this.. we formula feed but just switched kinds… he was so gassy with the first that he would basically poop just a little with every diaper lol but with the new one now I only get like one or two a day.. but color and consistency is normal???

Yea my midwife told me just 8+ pees daily are very important, they can go up to 6 or more days w/o a poop once in a while if breastfed, there's a wide range of normal for bowel movements. After the first 2 weeks my 4 week old started pooping just between once per day or every other day

Breastfeed babies can go up to 10 days without pooping and it be considered totally normal.  We were worried almost because my breastfeed 3 weeker typically poops with each feeding.  If you notice him irritated or squirmy, it could be that he’s slightly constipated, especially if he usually goes regularly.  We just went through this with our little one this week.  He was so fussy and a crier which he never is for the past 4 days and we realized it’s because he couldn’t pass his stool on his own.  I did the thermometer trick, where you insert just the very tip and helped his legs up and it shot out like a rocket 😂.  It’s a good trick for quick relief but it’s not suggested  as a consistent solution.  My pediatrician said Probiotics helps as well as 1/2 oz prune juice concentrated.  We did the prune juice one a day for two days as well as the probiotics and he’s been perfect again since.

My daughter as a newborn would go 10 days with out pooping when she was breastfed. It’s normal.

My formula fed baby poops once every couple days. Normal constancy and he isn’t in pain. He’s just absorbing it faster than he eats it producing less waste.

It’s normal. Breastfed babies do not always poop as much as formula fed babies.
