Name taking

Soo I'm due with mine and my fiances first in Dec. He has a daughter who has his last name and when discussing it I mentioned that because we don't plan on getting married for a couple years (insurance reasons) I want our daughter to have both of our last names and if/when we do get married I will have both as well. Apparently this is a huge problem for him as he feels like I'm only half-assed taking his name so he said if I want to keep my current one that that's the only one she and I will have. Now, first of all, my family is all girls, I am the last one in the family aside from my grandfather with this last name and I would like to continue it on even if it's just for one more generation. But I have been dreaming of taking his forever so I don't understand why it's wrong to want both. I also just like it and would like my daughter to have it as well. I can kind of understand where he is coming from but I think it's bullshit that we are expected to give up our name and the men don't have to worry about it. It's just really upsetting that I have to choose...
