Do babies poop a lot less when you switch from breastmilk to formula?

We just discovered we had to switch to formula. My 5 month old was previously pooping constantly, probably 6-8 times a day. Now we’re lucky if it’s once a day. Is this ok? My doctor is out on vacation this week :-/

What kind of formula? The pre made stuff caused ours to get constipated. The powder we made is about the same frequency.

Mine didn’t change at all but it was 11 months when we slowly switched. I believe that age 7-10 days is ok without other symptoms. Just messy

My baby didn’t switch but was formula from the start. He usually goes only once a day. Sometimes twice. So it sounds normal to me!

Formula take longer for babies to digest than breast milk so I’d say it’s normal. The sudden transition into formula may also be a factor.
