I am having trouble being “ok” with lactation and breastfeeding. I love my baby and we bond when he is eating…. But once I stop gazing into his big round eyes, he stops feeding, then my breast leak periodically throughout the day- I feel disgusting. I don’t know if that is normal but I feel so guilty it brings me to tears. This is my first child. Please tell me I’m not alone!!

Yes, until I got out of the leaking phase (around 4 months) I definitely felt “gross.” But I truly enjoyed breastfeeding even with that gross feeling. But sometimes I wished I just didn’t smell like milk!

Gah yes! Seriously leaking everywhere 😂. It's ok to feel that way! Try not to take it too seriously and laugh off what you can. Try to find joy each day, even in something small. I highly recommend finding a breastfeeding motivation for you, mine was peanut butter m&ms during breastfeeding sessions and I kept ice cold water near me because I would always get nauseous.

Leaking will get better.
Although the other day my son decided to skip breastfeeding for 7 hours (he's on solids and I always offer breast first). I attempted to feed him in the car park, he latched then decided he didn't feel like drinking. Literally not kidding my boob turned into a water gun. It sprayed all over inside the car, top to bottom and on the side of my husband. I was mortified. I had to manual pump and got 150mls to relieve the pressure. 
It gets better, hang in there mama. But expect some interesting leak activities!

I loved breast feeding in the moment. Any other time..it was just a chore for me I didn’t like it period..🙄

I don’t feed on the boob but I permanently have nipple pads in my bra lol. I actually do not mind the whole leaking thing I understand when it happens I can almost call it when it happens. I’m the most in tuned with my body right now. So for me it’s another thing for me.

How old is your baby? Leaking will decrease dramatically and be practically nonexistant unless you miss a feeding after six weeks! And the first six weeks are the hardest anyway! I breastfed my first for 16 months and my second for 13 months. The first 6 or so weeks was rough with both of them but I enjoyed breastfeeding after that. My youngest could only breastfeed for 3 months and it was a chore with him. He didn't latch well, wasn't pooping enough, and wasn't gaining weight fast enough. The first few weeks were only difficult with my first two but breastfeeding my youngest was a struggle for the entire 3 months he breastfed.
