Anyone not swaddling?

My 3 1/2 week old son hates to be swaddled and no matter which one I try he can always get his arms out.  I put him into a bag type sleeper instead and he is sleeping the same amount of time as he was in the swaddle. Is anyone else in this boat?

Yes and no? We use the swaddle up.

My daughter was ok with being swaddled every now and then for the first 3 weeks. After that, she wouldn't even consider it, started crying before I was even done swaddling her! She absolutely loves sleeping in my arms so I've noticed that the only way to put her in her cot is if I keep my hands around her (squeezing her ever so slightly) for a minute or so after I've moved her. She will then carry on sleeping (although almost never as long as when I keep her in my arms and she stays there for the entire nap).

I tried swaddling my son (5 weeks old currently) once (even spent $60 on an Ollie) and he screamed and cried for like 20 minutes straight and nothing I did consoled him, so I ditched the whole idea and never did it again. His startle reflex doesn’t wake him up at all anyway so I figured I didn’t even care to. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve actually read things that it’s better not to swaddle! Look up “on track baby” on Instagram, they have a highlight on swaddling!

Mine likes to have his belly wrapped but his arms out as well. Guess it feels like being held 🤷.

So my baby doesn’t like it at all. But she also wakes frequently without it. She will scream when I swaddle her. It seriously pisses her off. So it’s like what to do? Well what I’ve found that works, is to incorporate the 5 S’s to calm her after she’s swaddled. And sometimes it takes a little longer. But once she’s calm and in a semi drowsy state, I lay her down and she sleeps so much better. Mine is a little Houdini so I take a swaddle blanket and fold it behind her and tuck her arms in. Then I have her in the swaddle blanket. Otherwise she wakes frequently. I’m not sure what the method is called but I know it’s mentioned on the happiest baby on the block website. Also, taking cara babies… check that out. It’s really helped me!

My boy loves to be swaddled and sleeps longer only through the day but he has really bad spit up so at night sleeps in my arms and I don’t swaddle so not to over heat him

My daughter is 3.5 weeks too and she did okay the first week, second week hands out, now she hates it. She doesn’t really startle so I’ve just done away with the swaddling.

I didn’t swaddled my son after 2weeks because he always fights it and he can easily remove his arms whenever I tried to swaddled him

Mine is a hit or miss! Sometimes we are able to get him sleep with swaddle … sometimes he fights it … we still try everyday
