Dorian Sterling Sotelo-Theriault was born June 24 2021 (His due date was July 12th) I started regular contractions at 4 minute intervals around 2pm on 06/23 and went to the hospital around 5:30pm for contractions every 2 minutes. I got an epidural at 10pm and my water was ruptured by my doctor at 10:30pm with being dilated to 4 cm. My contractions stopped being productive around 5 am the next morning at 6 cm dilated so I was started on pitocin. My epidural wasn’t helping with contractions and my back and neck was in so much pain. I was able to call my mom and have her come in and massage my back and neck out for me while my husband gave me comfort. I kept getting booster shots of the epidural which would help for only so long. My baby was sunny side up so and I kept staying at 8.5 cm so my ob recommended a csection. I wasnt ready for that. So my nurse got another nurse to help her flip him to the correct position. I pushed and got myself to go to 10 cm dilated. I pushed for 2 1/2 hours without any progress of him going down my birth canal. He ended up being too big for me to push out and I was exhausted from pushing for so long and having horrible contractions. I went to the OR to start a c section. I kept falling asleep even during these horrible contractions. My ob gave me my numbing/pain meds through my epidural. He poked me with a needle and I could feel it. He poked me 3 more times and that is how we all found out my epidural was failed/ partially out. They ended up having to put me under for my c-section. Dorian was born at exactly 4 pm and my husband got to hold him and take care of him until I woke up. When I woke up I got 1 hour of skin to skin and breast fed him on both sides for a total of 40 minutes. I went back to sleep and my mom and husband got to take care of the baby. We are finally moved into the momma baby center and just enjoying our little one.
