Ladies, how does WIC work ? Someone told me there’s certain food you get for free if you need help while pregnant. I’m a ftm and don’t know much about it, for those who get any please tell me your experience. Thank you 🤎

Go to your local health dept or go online and try to apply. Whether you qualify is based on income and family size. It’s basically like a “food stamps for baby” program.

I didn’t know either. Sign up, you will be approved if you’re pregnant. They will give you eggs beans fruit things like that. But when you really want it is when baby is born and you get formula and baby food. It’s a LIFE SAVER!

Not familiar with California as laws and things vary by state, but I work for WIC in IN. A pregnant mom will automatically qualify if on Medicaid. If private insurance: household income has to be under a certain amount for however many people in household (baby you’re pregnant with included). 
Benefits renew monthly and you would get bread, milk, cheese, yogurt, fruit/vegetables, cereal, juice, peanut butter or beans, etc. 
Here you typically have appts every 3 months but with covid policies have changed so just call your local office and they will set something up for you!

It’s for moms who meet the income requirements that have children from newborn to 5 years old.  You should have a WIC office local to you that can help you get signed up.  Normally they give you staples like milk, eggs, peanut butter, bread, cereal, etc.

Yeah wic in Cali gives you the whole produce option, can get canned foods or fresh fruits and veggies. Can get milk and bread. It also helps with formula when the baby comes.

It depends on what your state allows. I live in sc and during my pregnancy I got certain foods like eggs, breads, fruits and veggies. You should go to your local dss and what they can do for you.
