Birthday Gift from boyfriend- TV HDMI adapter

Hey! Looking for some advice, my birthday is coming up and my bf mentioned he had a gift in mind for me a few months ago, fast forward to last week we were briefly talking about the iPhone adapter for HDMI as an alternative to wifi at my families vacation home. (Just a normal convo) Fast forward to today( 18 days before my birthday) , he tells me he has my birthday gift but it’s unwrapped and he thinks it’s good timing to give it to me and he doesn’t want to wait (no big deal) so I’m excited and like “should I close my eyes?! I’m gonna close my eyes!” (I’m thinking it’s probably that gift he mentioned in the past) so he hands me the unwrapped box (also not a big deal cus good for the environment) and he asks me to guess what it is. So I’m feeling the box and I’m like hmmmm is this something from Apple? He says how’d you know? And I’m like “the packaging” 🤣 (I’m still clueless about what it is though) so I open my eyes and low and behold it’s the said adapter we were talking about… definitely not what I was expecting.

Now I’m not saying he needs to go all out how I did for his bday because everyone gifts differently and it was definitely thoughtful but should I be upset that he gifted me a tv adapter for my birthday that honestly my parents are gonna be using more than me? (They go to the vacay house every weekend vs me going every once in a while based on my schedule)

P.S. at first I thought maybe he was joking that it was for my birthday gift but now I’m not sure because he was like “ it’s really your gift and it’s useful, not something that you might not use”…

P.S.S I’m currently PMSing and want to make sure it’s not period brain behind this overthinking
