When should I start letting people at work know?

I'm not due until early August but I need advice on when I should start letting people at work know. Since I am only 5 weeks along I'm not showing yet, we plan on telling family (which is another story in itself) and close friends around the 12th weeks but as far as my job that's the question. I'm up for a promotion soon and I don't want my pregnancy announcement to get me over looked for the promotion nor do I want people treating me like I'm helpless around the office. What do you guys think I should do?

I'm planning on letting my work know after 12 weeks but promotions are around the 4-4.5 months of pregnancy for me.

I'm tempted not to say anything until after I get my raise and promotion. I'm not worried that I wouldn't get it, I just don't want any pity or the attention. I will have been at my job for 4 years in Sept 2016 (same time the baby is due!) so I have some amount of seniority.

They can't not give you a promotion because you're pregnant. It's discrimination.

I was asked to take a promotion right before we found out, at 5 weeks I had bleeding left in the middle of the day. It was an issue as I just left for hours so I did explain to our manager what was going on. I was later told I would not be getting the promotion... The one they asked me to take. Of course it was because of the baby. I so so so wish I would have waited to tell, I would absolutely wait if I was you

I told my boss when I was like 6-7 weeks only bc I'm so high risk and needed a cerclage put in at 12 weeks and had to take 3 weeks off so we needed to get a temp in for me to train and everything. Sucked but didn't have much choice! If your totally fine tho Id wait till your past 12 weeks!
