How did y’all know to take a test after ovulation kit?

I see some people testing x number of days dpo. How do y’all decide if you should test or wait? In my mind I shouldn’t test until the missed period, but I was wondering if y’all had any thoughts on how to know when to test.

You can’t realistically get a positive even if you will end up pregnant before 10 DPO generally speaking, but the closer you get to your period the more reliable the results will be.

Some women test between 7-12 dpo because implantation usually happens within that range & there’s a chance to test positive .

I wait until 17 dpo, which is after I would have missed my period.
