How did you deliver?

I have been reading tons of studies about delivery positions and the different benefits and draw backs each one has and I am really curious what everyone experienced. Personally I think I want to deliver my baby in the squat or hands and knee position. What are your thoughts/experiences?

I got an epidural. I don’t think you have options with that. I honestly couldn’t imagine being in any position other than on my back though. Between pushes I laid back even if it was for just 10 seconds. I needed every second of rest I could get. I pushed for 30 minutes which they said was fast since some women push for hours especially with first.

My first was born in medicated, I chose to be on hands and knees and LOVED it - I was able to deliver him by myself by sitting up and pulled him right up to my chest. I had an epidural with my second so was stuck on my back and hated being so constrained. Thankfully I was able to guide him out too and pulled him up to my chest.

Giving birth on my back was the LAST thing I ever planned on doing but somehow I did. I was going to use a birthing tub but ended up getting out of it for them to check me and I didn’t want to move again I was just too scared/exhausted so I did it on my back. My main goal was natural birth and I did that so that’s what matters to me. I’m sure it would have been a little easier squatting or on all fours.

I was thinking exactly like you were after reading studies…even bought a birthing chair and brought it to the hospital…all that went out the window when they started cranking up the pitocin…ended up delivering on my back with an epidural. I had a wonderfully quick and easy delivery. Don’t get too hung up on delivering a certain way…have a preference but know things rarely go exactly as planned.

I would have done whatever was least painful lol 😂 I got an epidural at 8cm tho so I ended up on my back

With my son I was on my hands and knees for most of it, but in the last 10 or so minutes I couldn't hold myself up anymore and they rotated me to my side.
With my daughter I did the whole thing on my side kind of curled into my husband. I slept on his chest in-between pushes

Unmedicated births. On my back. Last one was not my choice to be on my back. They said the doppler wasn't picking up baby's heartbeat and threatened csection 🙄 I was in so much pain I could not advocate for myself.

I’ve had two unmedicated births. I tried hands and knees and squatting while laboring and found both to be really uncomfortable.  I delivered on my back for both. With my first, I had a doctor I didn’t know because mine was on vacation. He didn’t coach me at all. I had a rotation of nurses coming through, so no real consistency.  I pushed for an hour and didn’t feel like I had any guidance. 
For my second, I had my chosen doctor with me and the same two nurses from start to finish. They repositioned the bed so I was sitting pretty straight up. They determined that this would help our daughter move more into the birth canal, which it did. They were strategic in my positioning, and provided a mirror so I could watch my progress as pushing. I only pushed for 12 minutes. It was so nice to have a team that listened to me and guided me through the entire process.

With my first I was told that with epidural I could only deliver on my back so I did my back. With my second, I got an amazing hospital with an AMAZING nurse and midwife so even with the epidural I got to labor on my
Hands and knees with the help of my husband and nurse and then I delivered sideways.
