Looking for some advice... currently taking Metformin and I’m 21-5. Asked my midwife if we could measure my insulin and iron levels still dealing with morning sickness and a lack of an appetite. Just want to make sure our little guy is okay and if I need to add extra supplements so be it. She agreed to the anemia test, but said they would not measure insulin because at 26 weeks I’ll be doing my GD test. I get that but am a ftm after a lot of infertility issues-overall would just make me feel better. Had insulin checked back in April with my fertility clinic and did mot need to do the first GD test.

She said I will have to stop taking my Metformin for 2 weeks prior to the GD test. I don’t agree with this because 1. I’m on this for insulin resistance PCOS. 2. I’m still suffering-through morning sickness and would like to not add diarrhea to it. 3. I’ve been taking this med my whole pregnancy and would hate to stop and restart- I know it probably wouldn’t ultimately effect our boy but can’t help feeling that this is a bad idea.

So for any moms who took Metformin while pregnant did you stop for the G D test? We’re you able to convince your doctor on a different method? I just feel stopping for 2 weeks is going to make me positive for GD when in reality my Metformin is managing it. I would like to get a meter and test for a week and just hand them the results but am lost. Any advice so appreciated!
