Anxiety & pre-hypertension?
I have white coat syndrome(which means, I get super anxious in any kind of DR/medical setting), but I also suffer from anxiety & panic disorder. My last visit to planned parenthood, my BP was 137/85. The medical assistant didn't mention any concern, but I just felt that was scary high! I'm kind of surprised that the nurse practitioner didn't say anything either. I'm going to try to keep track of my BP, but even the BP monitor gives me great anxiety! I hate it. My family suggested that I wear a Fitbit watch to monitor, which I will do in the meantime.
I really don't want to go on medication for anxiety/panic, but I'm scared that my anxiety is going to eventually take a toll on my heart as I head into my 30s. Are there any take as needed meds that have worked for you?
Do any of you who suffer from moderate to severe anxiety deal with high BP? I will get my heart checked out as soon as I get benefits, but I was just curious if this is normal for those of us who suffer from anxiety/panic?
