Should ID be required to create a social media account?

Or

So there is a petition going around in the UK calling for ID to be a legal requirement when you create a social media account.

This was a result of racial abuse that black people are currently facing after 3 black football players missed their penalty shots which led to England losing the European Cup.

16 black people were stabbed and one black male was pushed onto the train tracks the night of England losing, and the racism on social media is at an all time high.

The ones who used their real accounts were doxxed and had screenshots sent to their employers, others are now making fake accounts to leave monkey emojis under black people's photos, excessive use of the N word, death threats and physical threats. You name it, it's there.

This is an example of what has been in circulation: *Trigger warning*

A few people have participated in this "challenge" uploading "proof" using burner accounts.

I agree with the petition, not just because of the situation in the UK but in general. Trolls are harmful and social media can be a very toxic place, I wouldn't mind making it easier for bullies/bigots and -phobics to be caught.
