Fertility treatment after stillbirth ???

Question

Hi ladies! I’m 3 months past my 40 week stillbirth. We have been trying again since we were cleared for sex at 6weeks pp. It took us 4 years to get pregnant with our baby that we lost. I have pcos. I had my hormones tested last month and the doctor thinks that I may still have issues ovulating. I want to do fertility treatments. The thought of going through infertility all over again after losing my baby at the very end when we were ready to bring him home is unbearable. I found out my husband’s insurance will cover one round of ivf. I made a consultation for next month with a fertility clinic. What I’m worried about is that they will say I can’t do ivf or any fertility treatments because I gave birth 3 months ago. I’ve been trying to find a new obgyn and every doctor I have been to doesn’t take me seriously about how badly I want to get pregnant again. Losing our baby only intensified our desire for one 😭 does anyone have any idea if they will possibly turn me down for fertility treatments?

First of all, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. That is a very hard thing to go through!!!
I lost a baby at 5 months (19 weeks almost), its not the same but it was a few hours of labor and then giving birth to a baby and placenta. My fertility clinic required 6 months for my body to heal.
Technically, the placenta grows attached to your uterus and when it comes off and you deliver it, then it leaves behind a dinner plate sized wound on your uterus (which is why you bleed for a while after giving birth - that large wound has to heal over). I think clinics will have different protocols, but there will be some required healing time that has to do with what they think is needed for physical and mental needs. Having said that, there are women who have kids close together and are fine, but when it lands in a medical professional’s hands to be responsible for uour health, they will be far more cautious.
I wouldn’t hesitate to take steps towards lining up an IVF cycle. I completely understand feeling even more that you want a child in your arms ❤️ - don’t hesitate to meet with multiple clinics (if possible in your area).

Hi I'm so sorry for your loss 💜 my husband and I loss our son April 25th of this year at 40wks and 5days. He was conceived by clomid we also struggled getting pregnant for a few years and so when we lost him it was so difficult to comprehend. Something we will never understand but just learn to deal with. At my 6wks postpartum appt I spoke to my OB about wanting to try as soon as we got the clear and she said that would be perfectly fine. She has given my husband and I until the end of Aug if we don't get pregnant naturally then we could start clomid again. I'm hoping clomid will work for us this time around again 🤞🏼 . I'll keep you in my prayers and wish you luck with whatever decision you decide. I would suggest trying clomid I've been told after giving birth we are more fertile. Baby dust 🙏🏽

Again I'm so sorry for your loss. I have been thinking about you. 🧡🧡
Your fertility clinic may be fine with you doing an egg retrieval and sperm fertilization pretty quickly to end up with frozen embryos. I may be jumping the gun here but if you decide to PGT-A test the embryos the whole process could probably take about 5 weeks and once that's done you could start the protocol for a frozen embryo transfer which would then hopefully be enough time for your uterus to rest. Basically my point is that you could start IVF treatment probably soon without having a transfer right away and that by the time ur ready for transfer that will be enough time passing for your uterus to rest. Good luck. I also have PCOS and that's why we had to do IVF last year to conceive but sadly our baby died at 25 weeks. :(

Sorry for your loss. I lost my little one at 28wks. My clinic required 2 full menstrual cycle before another transfer. I believed I did my next transfer around 3 months after my loss. You just have to talk with them see what they say.

I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. 
My husband and I have been thru the works in terms of fertility treatments, both Iui and IVF. With Iui cycles if it failed we could restart trying immediately, with the ones we were successful but had an early loss we had to have a negative hcg then wait 1 cycle. With IVF we did stims and harvest and had our embryos tested and waited a cycle to start preparing for a transfer. We asked about a second transfer and we were told that with a  viable ( greater than 24 week) pregnancy we would have to wait 8 months to transfer again. So given your situation and wanting to do IVF I’d assumed you would fall into this category of needing to wait at least 8 months.

I am so sorry for your loss. I would recommend only reaching out to reproductive endocrinologists because too often obgyns don’t take infertility seriously enough and will just ask you to wait unnecessarily. Use this time to research different clinics so you pick one that will be able to best serve you. It’s a blessing to have insurance coverage that covers an ivf cycle, you don’t want to use it somewhere that doesn’t give you the best chance at success. 
Like others have mentioned you should be able to start a transfer cycle around 6 months postpartum. Any sooner than that I would question whether the doctor has your best interests at heart. Make sure you get as much testing done as possible before you plan to start. It’ll give you a window into how well the clinic you chose actually functions and the highest chance of it working. I am so sorry for your loss 💔
My gyno wouldn’t talk to me and brushed me off (see ya next year! She kept saying at 6 mo ttc). I knew something was wrong. We were trying everything. I went to my pcp and she didn’t hesitate with blood work. I was right, I had hypothyroidism and celiac (this I knew), which then got us to an RE. We had a diagnosis and a plan by the year mark.
So I know different scenario, but point being, it didn’t matter time wise. If they can find something wrong, they’ll proceed. I did ivf and have my son, and I was cleared to do another ivf round at 9mo pp (I waited until now, 18 mo pp though). Maybe have your doctor run blood work before the RE since you have pcos that should be enough to clear for a specialist.
