Am I wrong for switching care providers?

So I chose to do my prenatal care using the providers at the birthing center where I'd like to deliver! I was assigned to my current doctor, but I was supposed to switch to one of the Midwives that the center offers. I want a midwife to delivery my baby. I'm currently 23 weeks and it pressed on me to call and see if one of the Midwives could deliver my baby instead of my current OB. I don't have a problem with my doctor, I just know midwives are more versed in natural child birth. Please know that I have to be seeing a midwife before labor to have one deliver me! Well. The scheduler basically said I can't be switching doctors and I was two seconds from letting her know this PPO Bluecross we pay for allows me to switch whenever! Anyway she switched me. I see my current Doctor on Thursday and I will let her know why I'm switching. Am I wrong?

Not at all! It’s your body and you get to choose who takes care of you. I’m currently still looking for someone who offers vbacs in my city and am allowed to change providers until 28 weeks.

You have to do what you feel is best for you and baby. I changed care providers at 24 or 26 weeks with my first pregnancy and I am soooooo glad I did. I love my new OB-he is the kindest, gentlest most supportive person. Follow your gut. Also, welcome to being a parent and constantly having the choices you make challenged and scrutinized :)

Like u said your coverage allows it. I switched at like 34weeks with my last. I wanted a water birth.

Nope! If you decided to didn't like them and feel comfortable birthing with them and wanted to switch at 40 weeks pregnant that's just fine to do so! I'm in the middle of changing providers due to a move myself and the VA switchover is slow so it will be about 2 months between appointments.
