My 1.5 year old son recently started smacking me on the head with his hands AND with anything he can get his hands on.

I’ve taken the items from him and kept calm, telling him that it hurts.

I’ve also held his hands gently and telling him that I don’t like when he hits me.

He also screams at the top of his lungs when he wants something, I feel like giving into him only makes him see screaming as the way to go.

When we’re out and about and he’s being too loud we ask him to use his inside voice and he listens very well, but in private homes it’s different.

I am trying to break a cycle of abusive parenting in my family and want to be gentle but effective.

I’m 6 weeks pregnant and trying not to lose my cool towards him. I refuse to be like my parents.

Advise? Tips?
